by no other than Jim Watson himself... "Oxidants, antioxidants and the current in-curability of metastatic cancers".

The vast majority of all agents used to directly kill cancer cells (ionizing radiation, most chemotherapeutic agents and some targeted therapies) work through either directly or indirectly generating reactive oxygen species that block key steps in the cell cycle. As mesenchymal cancers evolve from their epithelial cell progenitors, they almost inevitably possess much-heightened amounts of antioxidants that effectively block otherwise highly effective oxidant therapies. Also key to better understanding is why and how the anti-diabetic drug metformin (the world's most prescribed pharmaceutical product) preferentially kills oxidant-deficient mesenchymal p53− −cells. A much faster timetable should be adopted towards developing more new drugs effective against p53− − cancers.

My collection of PICC & Ports

PICC A Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) is a thin, long, soft plastic tube that functions as an intravenous (IV) line.  The PICC is secured in place and covered with a sterile dressing. An x-ray is taken to assure that the catheter is in the right location. Inserting the PICC usually takes approximately 20-40 minutes to complete. Most patients feel little or no discomfort during this procedure. A local anesthetic may be used.

PORT  A port is a device that is implanted under the skin and provides access to your veins. The port can stay in place permanently, if necessary. When not in use, the only care a port requires is flushing once a month with a special saline solution to keep blood clots from forming in the line. Ports are implanted by an interventional radiologist. Two incisions are made, a small one near the collarbone and a larger incision usually a few inches below the first incision where a reservoir pocket is formed.

When the port is accessed, a special needle is placed through the skin into the reservoir. A catheter under the skin connects the reservoir to a large vein, usually in the chest.

Eternity

It is masked with seconds the shortness of our time...
We sometimes  no longer feel the heavy breath of life exiting our bodies...
Importance is forever gone...

Who are we? , what are we? , even more important: "how long are we"?.

It’s time to break free again, finally I'm coming home.
