Dear Doctor,
Please be advised that applicants who are graduates of medical schools
in Cuba who claim their medical school will not sign their application
form and/or complete and return to ECFMG® the verification of their
credentials due to a Cuban government resolution that forbids such
verification for health professionals who have left Cuba without
permission may request consideration by the ECFMG Medical Education
Credentials Committee.
In order for ECFMG to evaluate your request you must submit to ECFMG a
detailed letter outlining which requirement you are requesting an
exception for and the circumstances that you believe are relevant to
the request. Please be certain to include your USMLE®/ECFMG
identification number and signature on the request. Please also send
copies of any additional medical school documentation in your
possession, such as your transcripts. You must send the transcripts in
the original language along with an English translation. If you also
have refugee/asylum/parole status in the United States you must submit
documentation of this status to ECFMG with your request.
Please note however, that the review process may be quite lengthy.
Sincerely,
Nancy Sulit
